What is Interdependence?

-When the President is making decisions he relies on the Senate and Supreme court to help make decisions. This is one of the key components of having an interdependent system. The President is exhibiting interdependent strategies by communication with other branches of the government.

Consider the video below:

In this video President Obama discusses how The Supreme Court made the decision to uphold his health-care reform. The Executive branch is relying on the Judicial branch to make a decision that will benefit the entire system which is the United States. Obama says how the decision made by the Supreme Court will benefit the entire United States.

What is Permeability?

-In regards to the United States Government there are instances of open permeable boundaries. An example of permeable boundaries within the United States government are the checks and balances. Each system has to give and recieve information in order to be effective.

Open System

-Consider the map below. All of these countries have some relation with the United States. Our allies are examples of how The United States uses an open system to connect with other countries. If the US did not have somewhat of an open system we would be isolated. For example the United States government must be open to the different environments and opinions of those surrounding us. If we did not accept and understand the different ideals of other countries we would not be able to have relationships with them.
